Tangkoko Wildlife Filming Expedition
The Tangkoko Wildlife Filming Expedition offers an exclusive opportunity to document the rare and fascinating wildlife of North Sulawesi in its natural habitat.
This special program is designed for documentary filmmakers, wildlife photographers, and research institutions seeking authentic field experiences in one of Wallaceaās most biodiverse regions.
Set within the pristine Tangkoko Nature Reserve, this expedition grants access to observe and film Sulawesiās most iconic endemic species, including:
-
Spectral Tarsier ā the worldās smallest primate
-
Sulawesi Crested Black Macaque (Yaki) ā known for its strong social behavior
-
Bear Cuscus ā a slow-moving marsupial living high in the canopy
-
Hornbills, Kingfishers, Parrots, and other tropical birdlife
This program includes expert field assistance, coordination with park authorities, and logistical support for both short and long-term filming projects (8ā22 days).
All expeditions follow ethical and conservation-based filming standards to minimize disturbance and ensure responsible documentation.
ā ļø Important Note ā Focus Species Selection
To maximize filming quality and efficiency, each expedition focuses on one primary species rather than multiple targets.
Participants may select one main subject for documentation, such as:
-
Spectral Tarsier ā nocturnal behavior and nightly activity
-
Crested Black Macaque (Yaki) ā troop dynamics and feeding habits
-
Bear Cuscus ā arboreal life and interactions
-
Hornbill or Kingfisher species ā bird behavior and feeding patterns
Each species requires unique observation times, techniques, and approaches.
By concentrating on one focus species, the team achieves higher-quality footage, deeper behavioral insights, and ethical field practices with minimal environmental impact.
Our team will help plan the most effective logistics, timing, and camera access for your chosen subject ā whether for a short documentary or an extended filming project.
š¬Filming Permits & Conservation Fees
All filming and research inside Tangkoko Nature Reserve require an official filming permit issued by the Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) under Indonesiaās Ministry of Environment and Forestry.
Participants must apply and pay for the official filming permit before the expedition.
This process ensures that all activities comply with conservation regulations and support the protection of local wildlife and habitats.
Because this is a special-purpose program, the cost of the Tangkoko Wildlife Filming Expedition differs from regular tours.
It includes:
-
Official BKSDA filming permit fees
-
Support from park rangers and local authorities
-
Extended field access & logistical coordination
-
Conservation contribution to local initiatives
Our team will assist you throughout the permit process prior to your expedition.
By joining this program, you directly support wildlife conservation and sustainable ecotourism in North Sulawesi.
